The last year was one of stunning growth and transformation for the University of Portland: We continued construction on the renovation and expansion of the School of Engineering, added two new residence halls, completely transformed our student dining hall, built an iconic new bell tower, revitalized our men’s and women’s basketball programs, and completed an historic expansion of our campus by purchasing 35 riverfront acres.
These are but a few of the most visible changes at the University of Portland in the past year, but amazing transformations take place every day on The Bluff for our students when they discover the power of prayer through a campus ministry retreat or the joy that comes from helping others; that hard work does beget success and that being successful and being ethical can go hand-in-hand.
That we are able to keep transforming lives and building and improving our campus, even amidst the worst economic turbulence our country has seen in eight decades, is thanks to our staunch supporters and generous donors who so strongly believe in the value of Catholic higher education, who support our efforts to prepare students for life and for making a difference in the lives of others, and who trust in the University to be good stewards of their gifts. We experienced one of our most successful fundraising years in our storied history this past year thanks to those supporters and those generous donations. Together we can continue to shape our students into the alumni who make a difference in their everyday lives. Thank you for helping us transform lives. Thank you for being a difference maker.
Sincerely,
Rev. E. William Beauchamp, C.S.C.
